The Jewellery Design & Manufacture programme aims to prepare you to contribute to the economy of South Africa. You will be trained to become a jeweller and jewellery designer who serves and contributes to the social and economic transformation of South Africa through employment or entrepreneurship. The programme will develop your creativity and technical skills in jewellery design and manufacture, through applied research skills and conceptual and critical thinking. The programme works closely with local jewellery companies, providing opportunities for you to enhance your academic and vocational engagement. Graduates from this programme become CAD designers, bench workers, specialised technicians, jewellery designers, gemstone setters, engravers, contemporary jewellers and entrepreneurs.
