The Faculty of Arts and Design Library Readathon and Writathon at the Tshwane University of Technology will take place on the Arts Campus from 29 to 31 July 2026.

A three-day creative and literary experience is planned, designed to motivate and build on traditional reading and writing skills and to transform stories into live, shared experiences.

The Faculty of Arts and Design Library Readathon

Participants will take part in activities such as reading challenges, writing contests and spoken-word performances, as well as having many opportunities to collaborate, all while celebrating literature.

This brings this year's theme, Beyond Pages: Stories that move, build and transform to life.

Day one will focus on Read to discover and will include a silent reading marathon, a blind date with a book, book chats and a creative reflection wall.

Day two is earmarked for Write your own word, with activities including writing stations, a script and scene studio, multilingual stories, a collaborative story wall and a writing competition.

The three-day event will conclude with a focus on From words, heart, mind and ink to stage. This final day will feature spoken word performances, a poetry cypher, blackout poetry and an awards ceremony.

The following will be available to enjoy over the three days: a reading lounge, a poetry corner, a book exchange, a photo booth/wall, fun activities and some small giveaways.

The Arts Campus Library team would like to invite students, staff, readers, writers, performers and storytellers to come along and take part.
