The Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Performing Arts, Faculty of Arts and Design, concludes the first semester on a triumphant note with a staging of the renowned play Party Time by acclaimed playwright and screenwriter, Harold Pinter.
In Pinter's unique style, the play is a satire that borders on the absurd. Set in contemporary South Africa, it is both light and thought-provoking.
Party Time is performed by senior students and is directed by lecturer, Dr Karina Lemmer. It also features live music with creative score devised and performed by Dr Rostislava Pashkevitch-Ngobeni, Head of the Department of Performing Arts.
This 'play with music' also promises to be a visual feast, with innovative lighting designed by lecturer, Wandile Mgcodo.
Party Time opens on Friday, 7 June at 19:00 at the Breytenbach Theatre, with two performances on Saturday, 8 June (15:00 and 19:00).
There will also be a matinee on Sunday, 9 June (15:00) and the run concludes with performances at 19:00 on Monday,10 June and Tuesday, 11 June.
Bookings can be made directly with the theatre on 012 382 2562 or Breytie@tut.ac.za.
