Experience the evolution of theatre through time at the TUT Arts Festival

What happens when theatre becomes a journey through time? The Immersive Tunnel: Evolution of Theatre Through Time at this year’s TUT Arts Festival invites audiences to step beyond the stage and experience the hidden world, history and technological transformation of theatre. From the warm, atmospheric world of early theatre to the dynamic technology of contemporary performance, audiences will journey through a series of immersive spaces revealing how theatre is created, experienced and transformed.

Enter the backstage world, where costumes, makeup, props, set, wigs and the unseen work of theatre-makers come to life. Discover a puppet and gallery space where craft, visual storytelling, sound and lighting take centre stage. Travel through a historical passage before arriving at a contemporary performance environment filled with theatrical lighting, trusses and stage technology.

Designed and created by Advanced Diploma students in TAD Technical, Department of Performing Arts, the Immersive Tunnel showcases the creativity, technical skill and collaborative spirit of emerging theatre practitioners.

The project is made possible through an industry partnership with Splitbeam, a globally recognised theatre equipment rental and production services company.
