Stop Sign: Split my wrist as I slit yours.. Maybe the redness in out blood will prove that one of us is less human..
ABSTRACT
Stop sign is a piece of Poetry in Motion that includes projection of images, dance and singing, as if a mini play is being portrayed whilst the poem is narrated. The poem has two parts that can just be intertwined by lighting. The first part commemorates the lives of the women we lost due to Gender based violence, their images will be projected as the poem narrates. The poem mirrors a dark street with potholes filled with blood of the lives we lost, at the end of the first part we come to a traffic light, each colour pleading to stop the abuse of women and children. Part two explores the pain women endure in abuse, on stage we’ll see a woman walking across men with different strengths, at the end the men will come together with their different strengths to protect the woman. This is to encourage men to rather use their manly strengths to protect the lives of women.
